Bookbinding

B

As most people did during the early months/years of the Covid outbreak, I picked up a new hobby that didn’t really go anywhere. I started “bookbinding” initially for a couple DnD campaigns, creating in-theme travel journals for my characters using a bit of glue, loose papers, and scrap fabric I had laying around. That evolved into a rabbit hole of watching youtube videos and other tutorials on the right way to do it, along with deconstructing garbage books I came across. These are some of the pieces I made for friends and family.

Book 1: As

This notebook was for an artist friend who loves the desert and cowboy stuff. The cover is canvas, cork, and leather with succulent themed endpaper.

Book 2: Ay

This one was for my (now) wife. Canvas and cork cover, with houseplant themed endpaper…..I incorrectly thought her favorite color was orange at the time.

Book 3: D

This notebook was made for a friend who’s an amazing, non-professional, chef. Canvas cover with a leather strip and food-like themed endpaper. I don’t know if all of the mushrooms exhibited are edible.

Grayson is up to something. It seems like it involves multiple swarms of bees, but it’s impossible to know for sure.
